How to register and get a foreign diploma recognized in Ecuador?

There are basically two options in order to your degree, depending on the university in which you studied:

  • Recognition listing (this means that the university that issued the degree appears in the Senescyt list, consequently, the recognition is “automatic”)
  • Recognition through a committee (if the university does not appear in the list, a committee will assess the request for approval)
  1. Recognition listing

The documents to be submitted are:

  • A written application in the format provided by Senescyt
  • An original and notarized copy of the degree (legalized by an Ecuadorian Consulate in the country of origin or with an apostille)
  • If the degree is not in Spanish, English, French, Italian or Portuguese, an authorized translation should be attached (done by a translator, organism or accredited agency for that purpose)
  • A copy of the identification card and voting card or a passport copy for foreigners.
  • Once this process is completed (this lasts about 5-7 working weeks), your degree will be recognized and will appear in the National Information System of Higher Learning of Ecuador (SNIESE).
