ATIEC Ecuador

Asociación de Traductores e Intérpretes del Ecuador

Benjamin Aguilar, the Executive Director of 9h05 International, has been an active member of ATIEC (Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ecuador) since September, 2012. He is registered as a translator of the following languages: Portuguese, Catalan, Spanish, French, Italian and English.

He is member number 54 of the Ecuadorian translators association whose objectives consist in organizing the translators and interpreters in Ecuador in order to encourage continuing education and development of professional skills, allowing for translators and interpreters in Ecuador to be certified, obtaining institutional recognition as an association of professional translators, making sure that ethical norms are complied with, incentivising good professional practice, and educating the public about the translating profession with events, fora and roundtables.

As such, Benjamin Aguilar was an instructor at a workshop about translation techniques and received a very good reaction from participants.

ATIEC was born in 2007 as a response to the need of an association for the translating profession in Ecuador and with the goal of putting a stop to the growing offer of translations from untrained and unauthorized translators.

ATIEC is a member of the International Federation of Translators IFT: www.fit-ift.org
