Translations<\/h4>\n

Jean-Rene Ladmiral defines translating as \u201ca unique case of linguistic convergence\u201d, an \u201cinter-linguistic mediation\u201d which enables the transfer of information between individuals who speak different languages. Translating thus implies \u201ctransmitting a message from a source language to a target language\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cTranslating\u2019 includes the act of translating, the individual who does so (the translator) and the result of this activity: the product delivered to the client, in other words, the text.<\/p>\n

Antoine Berman, on the other hand, understands translating as \u201ca subterranean, hidden activity\u201d which has \u201clargely remained unexplored\u201d.<\/p>\n
